  The Indian Automobile Industry

India is multi billion-dollar market for automobiles, accessories and components. Apart from being the world’s largest manufacturer of two wheelers and fifth largest manufacturer of commercial vehicles, India is the fourth largest passenger car market in Asia. The industry is already on a growth trajectory. The booming economy and rising standards of living combined with the experts pegging CAGR of 9.5% by 2012 and industry-friendly policies of the government, promise a stable and long-term growth. Indian and global auto giants have announced huge plans placing the industry on an overdrive. Matching these factors, the auto parts and components sector has also grown rapidly and acts as an auxiliary sector to the automobile trade. The component sector alone churns out an annual turnover of USD 15 Billion with a projected CAGR of 10%. The auto component segment is preparing for a massive upward surge of 25% in exports with the international OEMs finding the cost-advantage factor attractive.

  The Need

The automotive sector is truly at a forefront of an incredible economic growth with a gigantic supply gearing up to meet an equally colossal demand. Though this is an encouraging scenario, the multi-billion-dollar Indian automotive industry is still at crossroads. While on one end the home grown giants are battling an influx of global players over showroom-space & mind-space, on the other side technological advancements and new innovations are perplexing the consumer with excessive choices.

Add these factors and what the sector needs is an exposition that can showcase the industry, its products and services to a right target audience in the right ambience. Bangalore International Automotive Expo comes in at the right time as the perfect platform that can convert the impetus into augmentation by presenting the industry's present and the future.

  Why Bangalore?

Bangalore is home to a vibrant auto industry with investments of over USD 600 Million and an annual turnover of USD 500 Million. Bangalore is the hub of most of the manufacturing units of the Indian automobile industry and the also official base for India's automobile R&D. Some of the major players in the automobile sector have their manufacturing units in Bangalore. In fact, it is the preferred location of global auto giants as well as auto component majors.

Bangalore has emerged as one of the best places to do business in the world, joining the league of cities like London, Shanghai and Singapore, as per a list recently compiled by CNN-Time Warner group. The study reveals that the rupee millionaire club in Bangalore is the most crowded in India and has the largest number of households with an annual income of Rs 10 lakh (Rs 1 million) or more.

Bangalore is an accolade for India on the international map. The buzzword of the 21st century, the intelligence capital of the fastest growing free-market in the world. Wired in technology, and showcasing abundant growth opportunities. Well-connected by air, rail and road, the city’s proximity to the other key South-Indian cities makes it a natural host and a gateway to the south Indian automotive industry.

  Why South?

South of India is truly the better half of International India. Historically, the southern ports have been an exchange point for new ideas, innovation and technologies. The current socio-economic factors indicate that the development in South-India is almost double than that of north. This is in consideration of a richer populace, a large pool of human resources, higher literacy level and a global outlook of an average household. South attracts more investment simply since investors can sit back, relax, and watch numbers stack up. South India is an accomplished avenue for Automobile R&D which gives it the potential to vex the biggest automotive giants of Indian and Global economy. With almost 90% of the manufacturing units and 80% of Foreign car assembly units of major automobile Manufacturers, along with a dominant share in the Auto component manufacturing industry lying in the south,

As the new emerging commercial capital of the south, Bangalore is the inevitable host to BIAE 2010.
